At Hitachi Plant Services (the Company), "personal information" refers to information, among the information listed below, that exists and that can be used to identify a specific individual (including personal information databases, etc., which can be easily used for comparison with other information, thereby identifying a specific individual). "Personal information" is not limited to information such as name, gender, date of birth and so on that can identify an individual, but also includes all information that represents facts, judgments, and evaluations regarding the attributes of an individual's body, property, occupation, title, etc. This includes information that is publicly available through evaluated information, publications, etc., as well as video and audio information, regardless of whether it is encrypted.
Additionally, if information regarding a deceased individual also relates to information about a surviving individual such as a bereaved family member, then the information will be regarded as information related to the surviving individual.
"Surviving individuals" are not limited to Japanese citizens, but also include those from overseas. However, corporations and other organizations are not classified as "individuals" and therefore information on organizations such as corporations is not included.
