Approach to the protection of personal information

Regarding the protection of personal information, in accordance with the personal information protection policy listed below (Privacy Policy), we will work to ensure appropriate protection by establishing prescribed rules and a management system.

Definition of personal information

At Hitachi Plant Services (the Company), "personal information" refers to information, among the information listed below, that exists and that can be used to identify a specific individual (including personal information databases, etc., which can be easily used for comparison with other information, thereby identifying a specific individual). "Personal information" is not limited to information such as name, gender, date of birth and so on that can identify an individual, but also includes all information that represents facts, judgments, and evaluations regarding the attributes of an individual's body, property, occupation, title, etc. This includes information that is publicly available through evaluated information, publications, etc., as well as video and audio information, regardless of whether it is encrypted.

Additionally, if information regarding a deceased individual also relates to information about a surviving individual such as a bereaved family member, then the information will be regarded as information related to the surviving individual.

"Surviving individuals" are not limited to Japanese citizens, but also include those from overseas. However, corporations and other organizations are not classified as "individuals" and therefore information on organizations such as corporations is not included.

Scope of Application

This document, "About Personal Information Protection," establishes the Company's procedures for handling personal information.

Privacy Policy

  1. Compliance with Laws and Regulations
    The Company recognizes the importance of protecting personal information handled by it, and it complies with laws and other regulations applicable to the protection of personal information. To properly use and protect personal information, the Company has established its privacy management rules that comply with the aforementioned laws and other practices. The Company shall implement these rules and shall continue to review them.
  2. Collection, Use and Provision of Personal Information
    The Company takes into account that it holds various information related to its business activities and will establish a management system to protect personal information in accordance with the circumstances of each business activity. Additionally, the collection, use and provision of personal information will be handled appropriately in accordance with the prescribed rules.
  3. Implementation of Safety Measures
    In order to ensure the accuracy and security of personal information the Company will implement measures which include managing access to personal information, restricting the means for taking out personal information, and preventing unauthorized external access in accordance with the prescribed rules on information security. The Company will also work to prevent the loss, destruction, falsification and leakage of personal information.
  4. Respect for Personal Rights Concerning Personal Information
    Should the Company be requested by the individual owner of personal information to disclose, correct or delete such personal information, or if the individual asks the Company to refuse the use of and/or provision of their personal information, the Company will respect the rights of the individual concerned and respond in good faith.

Purpose of Use and Provision to Third Parties

  1. The Company shall use personal information only to the extent necessary to achieve the purposes of the following items.
    • To hold events for customers and send information regarding products and services to customers.
    • To respond to customer inquiries
    • For analysis aimed at the improvement of products and services
    • For customer questionnaires and their analysis
  2. Unless the customer's prior consent has been obtained in advance, the Company shall not provide personal information to third parties. However, the Company may provide personal information to third parties without the customer's prior consent in the following cases.
    • When based on and following laws and regulations
    • When it is deemed necessary for the protection of human life, body or property, and obtaining customer consent proves difficult
    • When it is deemed necessary for a Governmental institution, a local government entity, or a person entrusted by them, to execute affairs specified by laws and regulations, and when obtaining customer consent would hinder or risk the execution of such affairs
    • When the Company provides personal information to Hitachi Group companies and third parties to whom the Company outsources operations, and only to the extent necessary to achieve the purpose of use

About Usage of Cookies and Web beacons

The Company uses cookies*1 and Web beacons (clear GIF)*2 in part of the website to make it more conveniently to use for person.
A person can refuse to receive a cookie, or can display a warning message when receiving a cookie by changing the setting of a web browser. For more details, please see the instructions of a web browser you are using. Moreover, a person can reject a Web beacon by setting to refuse the receipt of a cookie.
But, in the first case, please note that a person may not be able to use the all or part of our services provided in the website.

Cookies:
Mean information exchanged one another between a web server that controls a web site and a web browser that a person uses. Cookies may be saved as files in the disk of a person's PC. If you use a cookie, the web server can track and record information about which pages in the web site the particular computer visits etc. However, we cannot identify the person unless he or she enters the personal information into the web site.

Web Beacons:
Mean technology that functions with a cookie to check how many times a person accesses a particular page. However, we cannot identify the person unless he or she enters the personal information when receiving cookies.

We Request your Cooperation and Understanding

  1. Most of the services provided by the Company can be used by customers without the disclosure personal information. However, please be aware in advance that some services may not be available to customers if they do not provide their personal information.
  2. The Company assumes no responsibility for ensuring the security of personal information on websites outside of the Company website which are linked to from its website.
  3. Customers are requested to enter their information only after agreeing to the Privacy Policy.

  1. The Company's Privacy Policy shall comply with the laws of Japan.
  2. The Company may revise its Privacy Policy, published on this page, to achieve better privacy protection and in accordance with the revision of laws, ordinances, government ordinances, and other practices. Please check regularly.

Inquiries regarding requests for the disclosure of personal information and complaints

  2. A fee equivalent to the actual cost will be charged for the disclosure of personal information. No fess apply for the correction, suspension, addition or deletion of personal information.
